Quality policy of the Carnot STAR institute

The Institut Carnot STAR (ICS) is an organization in charge of supporting and developing partnership research, i.e. helping to develop projects between private companies and its public research units.

"Awarded the Carnot label by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in 2007, and renewed in 2011, 2016 and 2020, the Institut Carnot STAR is placed under the sole trusteeship of Aix-Marseille Université (AMU). Its scope covers 10 research units* based in Aix-Marseille. Our ambition is to leverage the expertise and multi-disciplinary nature of the technologies developed within the ICS to meet industrial challenges in the field of Sport, Health and Wellness.

By placing our stakeholders at the heart of our concerns, we are committed to a continuous improvement approach to guarantee the quality of our services, while complying with legal and regulatory requirements. To this end, an ICS Quality Management System has been set up in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard.

Our vocation is to generate a set of actions for the development and promotion of national and international partnership research, for the benefit of business innovation through the valorization of the scientific expertise of our research units, taking into account the challenges linked to climate change.

These actions are based on 4 major commitments for the Institute:

  • Promote and develop partnership researchUnite
  • and give scientific coherence to ICSValue
  • the expertise of ICS unitsContinuously improve
  • the performance of its system

This Quality approach is part of our determination to meet the expectations of companies and our research units by placing the quality of partnership relationship management at the heart of our commitments.

As Director, I pledge to support the actions initiated, to promote continuous improvement and to ensure the availability of the necessary resources in line with the context. We will regularly review the progress made, and will formally assess the situation during management reviews.

Institut Carnot STAR's Quality Management System applies to all the Institute's activities.

Two exclusions to the ISO 9001-2015 standard have been identified:

  • 7.1.5.2 Measurement traceability.
  • As the activity is mainly service/consultancy, there is no metrology performed8
  • .3 Design and development of products and services. There is no design or development in the structure's activities"
