Project summary

The aim of this project is to develop a prototype ski equipped with stress sensors, by proposing a multimodal on-board acquisition solution. The aim is to demonstrate the value of a disruptive integration approach combining semiconductor materials prepared in solution (sol-gel) with a laser processing step to manufacture a sensor directly on the object to be instrumented.

This original approach enables the sensor to be integrated into the object, making it very minimally intrusive. The prototype will be validated by static and dynamic tests, in the laboratory and in the field, combining different types of measurements. This multi-disciplinary project, with challenges in materials science, on-board acquisition and biomechanics, opens the way to numerous other applications in the fields of sport, leisure, well-being and transport.

The long-term goal is to develop a functional prototype that will be presented to ski manufacturers in spring 2026.
